I'm going to the USA for 10 days and will mainly use my phone for maps, messaging, and checking restaurants. I might also upload some photos and stream a little music. How much data should I get to avoid running out?

For 10 days with maps, messaging, and light social media, 5GB is usually enough. If you plan to stream music or upload lots of photos, 10GB gives you a comfortable buffer.

I used 3GB in 10 days with heavy Google Maps and WhatsApp. Just avoid streaming video and you'll be fine with 5GB.

I went with 10GB and ended up using about 7GB. It was nice not having to worry about data.

A good rule is 500MB per day for typical use. So 5GB is the minimum, but 10GB is safer if you tether or stream.

Download offline maps before you go and you'll save a ton of data. I only used 2GB in 8 days.

I streamed Spotify for about 2 hours a day and used 8GB total over 10 days. So if you stream, get 10GB.

Don't forget that hotel Wi-Fi helps. I used 4GB in 10 days because I was on Wi-Fi at night.

If you're a heavy user like me, 20GB is overkill. I got 10GB and had 3GB left after 10 days.
