I'm planning a trip to Bali and I'm not sure whether to get an eSIM or a local SIM card. What are the pros and cons of each option? How does coverage differ?

Using an eSIM can be more convenient because you can activate it before your trip and it works instantly upon arrival. You'll also avoid the hassle of finding a local SIM store once you land, and eSIMs often have competitive data rates.

I tried both during my stay in Bali. The local SIM was cheaper, but the eSIM was super convenient since I didn't have to swap out my SIM card. It really depends on your needs.

Remember that an eSIM allows you to keep your home number active while using local data. This can be a huge advantage for staying connected without missing important calls or messages.

I used a local SIM, and although it was less expensive upfront, I had to deal with long lines and confusing instructions. I would go for an eSIM next time for peace of mind.

Coverage for both options is decent in Bali, but if you venture into more remote areas, I'd recommend checking coverage maps for your chosen provider.

eSIMs are great for data-intensive activities like streaming and navigation, while local SIMs might be better suited for just basic web browsing.

I found that the customer service for local SIM providers wasn't great, while my eSIM was easy to manage through the app. Just something to consider!

The eSIM saved me time and hassle. If you're looking for convenience and reliable data, it's worth the slightly higher cost.
