I'm heading to Seoul and Busan next month and wondering if I'll be able to get 5G on my phone with an eSIM plan. My phone supports 5G and I'm on a 5G plan at home. Will I actually connect to 5G there, or is it mostly LTE for visitors?

Yes, 5G is widely available in South Korea, especially in Seoul and other major cities. Our eSIM plans connect to local 5G networks where coverage exists, so you'll get 5G speeds if your phone is compatible.

I was in Seoul last month and had 5G almost everywhere with my eSIM. Even on the subway it was fast. You should be fine.

In Busan I got 5G in most central areas, but it dropped to LTE in some smaller neighborhoods. Still perfectly usable for maps and messages.

Just a heads-up: 5G availability depends on your specific phone model and the local network bands. Most recent iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones work well, but check your device's supported bands before you travel.

I used an eSIM in Korea and saw 5G on my status bar constantly. Speeds were incredible—way faster than my home Wi-Fi.

Make sure your eSIM plan actually includes 5G. Some cheaper plans are LTE only. I learned that the hard way on a previous trip.

Even if you only get LTE, it's still super fast in Korea. But yes, 5G is everywhere in cities. You won't have issues.

I was just in Jeju and had 5G in Jeju City, but it was spotty on some rural roads. Overall, great coverage though.
